Anne Sherman, Associate Director, has over eight years of experience in nonprofit capacity building, strategic planning, evaluation, and organizational assessment. Current and recent planning engagements include United Neighborhood Houses, the United Way of New York City, BoardSource, Henry Street Settlement, NYC Mission Society, GMHC, Community Service Society of New York, Center for Family Life in Sunset Park, Fortune Society, and the Early Care and Education Funders Collaborative. Among her evaluation projects are the Women's Center for Educational and Career Development, Sanctuary for Families, Boys Club New York, and NPower. Her client work has also included a number of funders that support capacity building efforts and providers of capacity building services, including the Deaconess Foundation in St. Louis, the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, the United Way of New York City, NPower, Community Wealth Ventures in D.C., and IT Resource Center in Chicago. She also has experience in grantmaking.
Prior to joining the firm, Sherman served as Community Initiatives Manager and Special Projects Coordinator at Minneapolis Way To Grow. Her work there included managing implementation of special grants; providing technical assistance in collaborative development, community outreach and program planning; conducting needs assessments, and informing sites and stakeholders of relevant policy issues. While with the organization, Sherman initiated a project to articulate and measure community-level indicators supporting school readiness and procured funding for that effort.
Sherman holds a Master's Degree in Public Affairs from the University of Minnesota Hubert H. Humphrey Institute for Public Affairs and is a graduate of Haverford College. She also completed graduate coursework in community health education at the University of Minnesota's School of Public Health. She currently chairs the Advisory Board of the Center for Family Life in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.
