Rachel Shamash is an Analyst with TCC. Prior to joining the firm, she worked at the Border Philanthropy Partnership, supporting a bi-national conference for the six-year partnership between 19 community foundations on the U.S. Mexico border region. She compiled and developed a Communications Asset Map (CAM) for strengthening the partnership and adaptive capacity of the diverse foundations. She also served as the Director of Programming for UCSD's Americans for Informed Democracy, coordinating various campus-wide initiatives about globalization, democracy and development in Sub-Saharan Africa. As Vice President and Community Service Coordinator of Rotaract, she implemented innovative local and international community service projects and initiatives.

Rachel spent a year abroad in Madrid, Spain studying at Complutense University, where she concentrated on courses in Political Science and International Relations. She also had the opportunity to participate in an international community development project in El Salvador with AJWS, where she worked with a women's cooperative NGO, CNMC-CONFRAS, learning about capacity-building and sustainability. She has varied experience in organizational leadership, product marketing and management, public relations and writing. She is particularly interested in bridging the gap between business and social change. She graduated from Thurgood Marshall College in June 2008 with a B.A. in International Studies Political Science with a secondary emphasis in Communication.
