Synthesizing research and strategy for lasting impact

Nate draws inspiration from the collaborative and creative process that results in social impact. He applies his writing and political science background to synthesizing information that clients can leverage to make informed decisions and advance social good.

Nate’s interest in social issues began at the University of California, Berkeley, where he participated in a journalism program centered on international reporting. Nate conceived, investigated, and composed stories on underreported international issues such as Boko Haram and Russian teen suicide.

At TCC Group, Nate provides critical support and conducts research and analysis for nonprofit partners. A meticulous strategist, he devotes much of his time to listening, asking questions, spotting trends, and generating ideas to help clients advance their missions.

At TCC Group:
  • Bard Prison Initiative (BPI): Nate supports the development of a strategic framework for the groundbreaking Bard College program, which has offered higher education and reintegration opportunities to those within America’s prison systems since 2001. Under TCC’s guidance, BPI is charting its future to ensure it will continue to defy conventional expectations of where liberal arts education belongs and who engages in it, building a national campaign to maintain visibility and sustainability over the long term. Nate assists in shaping various aspects of the planning process and research for BPI, helping to guide growth and fundraising opportunities for the highly acclaimed platform.
  • Urban Resource Institute (URI): Working in close connection to the Institute’s efforts to provide social services to New Yorkers suffering and recovering from domestic violence, Nate assists the strategic planning process to re-examine URI’s vision, mission, and values. The planning work focuses on areas including infrastructure development, organizational and learning culture, investment opportunities, and marketing and communications. Nate’s contributions help advance a wide variety of URI programs that provide individuals and families with the resources they need to lead healthy, independent lives.
Before TCC Group:
  • University of California, Berkeley Journalism Program: Nate pitched and wrote news stories, civic event profiles, cultural features, and opinion pieces. Conducting extensive background research by reviewing government and court records, real estate holdings, professional licenses, disclosure statements, and criminal histories, Nate covered international topics such as Boko Haram and Russian teen suicide, interviewing sources living abroad and producing multimedia packages.
  • Harvey & Company LLC: Nate worked in the principal investment and acquisition advisory division of the financial firm’s Newport Beach, California office. He provided deal sourcing and proprietary market research on target companies in the industrial manufacturing and distribution industries for private equity clients and their portfolio companies. He also profiled and evaluated companies based on revenue, earnings, margins, industry outlook, scalability, and past performance.
